Barra Olympic Park

The Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood, often simply called Barra, will be the heart of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Located in the west of the city, it is surrounded by lagoons and mountains, and boasts one of the best beaches in Rio.

The Barra zone will be home to Barra Olympic Park, the largest concentration of Games venues, plus the Riocentro exhibition centre that has four pavilions, the new Olympic Golf Course and the Pontal venue. In all, the 15 competition venues in Barra will stage 23 Olympic sport disciplines and 13 Paralympic sport disciplines. The zone will also be home to the Olympic and Paralympic Village, Athletes’ Park and International Broadcasting Centre-Main Press Centre complex.

Location

Pontal Hostel is located just 7 miles from Barra Olympic Center, in front of Macumba Beach, one of the best surfing spots in Rio (see the blue icon on map above). Surrounded by nature, the hostel is also near the most beautiful beaches, waterfalls and trails where the guests can do mind-blowing rides and enjoy the natural beauties of the west area of the Wonderful City.

You can leverage your stay at Rio by picking a place located on the most beautiful part of the city.

Around the hostel are:
The Marambaia Sandbank, perfect for begginers and practitioners of Stand-up Surf, Flyboard or Wakeboard;
Vargem Grande district, that has many trails and waterfalls, and a great gastronomy center;
The Abricó beach, only nude beach in Rio de Janeiro;
And the virgin beaches of Perigoso, Funda, Inferno, Secreto and Meio, which can only be accessed by trails.

The hostel has a pretty garden with a pool, lounge with cable TV, hammocks on the porchs, a internal area with a hall where the breakfast is served. The hall has a barbecue, a woodstove and a complete kitchen with cook-top, refrigerator and microwave.

Collective Rooms

The Collective Rooms are friendly 4-7 person rooms, with bunk beds or twin beds, which are rented individualistically just like every traditional hostel. But with a significant difference: All our rooms have air conditioning and a exclusive bathroom that is shared just amongst guests of each room.
Bed linen and towels are provided once, and is charged a fee in case of exchange.

Privative Rooms

All Privative Rooms have ocean view, double bed and accomodate up to 3 person with an extra bed, except the Family Room which accomodates up to 5 person confortably. Those rooms have cable TV, lockers, air conditioning with no restrictions and a private bathroom. The Master and Family rooms have a fridge.
Bed linen and towels are provided and periodically exchanged as needed.
